Fax, invented by Xerox in 1964. Originally uses anaologue phone lines to transmit an image taken from a sheet to anothe machine. This revolutionised how business worked and soon every one had a fax in their office. Fax was so common that the creators of back to the future saw a future where Marty is Fired by Mr. Fujutsu. and recieves several “Your Fired FAX” all over is house.
Today Fax is less common. But still desired. At one time Email was considered to have no security and FAX was considered to be the truly secure form of communication. Because of this, we still see FAX used in government, Doctors, Dentists and Lawyers. as they are still very common widly used to send secure communications. As an IT professional I belive email has become more secure and faxing has become less secure. However the stigma aroung security is still lingering.
Bell Canada no longer offers analogue lines and if you still have one, It will be extinct soon. which posses an issue for Fax. Most Faxes are now sent and recieved through a 3rd party service like myphonesystem.ca’s Fax service where you upload a document to a website or mail service and that is then delivered to fax service. And likley converted to an email and delivered.
Either way if you NEED fax, there are still solutions. They will likley remain in some form for Decades to come.
